Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-7th) has endorsed Jesus "Chuy" Garcia for mayor in the April 7, 2015 runoff municipal election for Chicago.
Congressman Davis voiced his endorsement of Garcia during a March 2 interview on WVON-AM radio with host Cliff Kelley.
A spokesman for Davis, Ira Cohen, confirmed that Davis had endorsed Garcia. Cohen said that while neither the congressman nor the Garcia campaign has issued the endorsement in writing, a more formal endorsement would follow in the coming days.
Davis, who in Congress represents much of the South Side north of 57th Street, had previously endorsed mayoral candidate Willie Wilson. After Wilson's third-place finish in the March 24 election, he became ineligible to run in the April 7 runoff.
